Basic flat rate
Amount of the basic lump sum
In order to pay for the costs of healthcare services provided by doctors, hospitals, pharmacists and all other services, the health insurance funds levy a uniform national contribution rate of 14.6 %. However, the contribution income does not remain with BKK EWE. These are first transferred to the health fund. This fund collects the money from all statutory health insurance funds. In principle, all health insurance funds will receive € 3,432.24 (€ 286.02 per month) per insured person back from the health fund in 2024.
The amount of this so-called basic flat rate is determined in advance for a year by the Federal Social Security Office by dividing the estimated statutory benefit expenditure by the estimated number of insured persons. However, the actual values vary from health insurance fund to health insurance fund, depending on certain calculation factors. The amount allocated to BKK EWE is significantly lower than this amount.
Only 0.9% additional contribution at BKK EWE
If the allocations from the health fund are not sufficient to cover the actual expenses of a health insurance fund, the health insurance funds can levy an additional contribution. At BKK EWE, this amounts to 0.9%, which is below the national average.
Annual Reports
The health insurance funds are obliged to make the annual accountability report on the activities and financial situation available to their insured persons for inspection:
Statutes
In addition to the constitution of BKK EWE, the articles of association also contain the regulations on membership, contributions and benefits. It also contains the amount of the reserve as well as the regulations of BKK EWE under the Expenditure Compensation Act. Amendments to the Articles of Association are adopted by the Board of Directors and approved by the Lower Saxony Ministry for Social Affairs, Health and Equality as the responsible supervisory authority. These amendments to the Articles of Association are then published and incorporated into the current version of the Articles of Association.
To ensure that you are always up to date, the Articles of Association and the amendments to the Articles of Association are available for download.
