Your budget for additional preventive care and medicines
Pregnancy marks the beginning of a new phase in your life, but also the care of your unborn child. To ensure that you and your baby are well advised during pregnancy, there are a number of statutory preventive examinations that your doctor settles directly with us via your health card. We also offer coverage for additional examinations and for selected medicines prescribed by private physicians. Costs of up to € 500.00 per pregnancy are covered.

Preventive medical checkups
The following individual examinations during pregnancy can be claimed and subsidized.
- First trimester screening
- Neck wrinkle measurement
- Toxoplasmosis test*
- Triple test
- B-Streptococcus examination
- Additional ultrasound examinations*
- Fluorescence in situ hybridization test (FisH test)
- Test for antibodies against ringworm and chickenpox
- Cytomegalovirus test
* Unless a benefit is provided under the maternity guidelines
Drugs
Costs are covered for the following drugs if prescribed by a physician on a private prescription and obtained from a pharmacy or mail-order pharmacy.
- Folic acid
- Vitamin B 12
- Iodine
Requirements for the bonus
The attendance booklet can be submitted once per pregnancy. The prerequisite for payment is an existing membership or family insurance of the (expectant) mother with BKK EWE at the time of settlement.
