DiGA - Digital Health Applications
Apps on prescription
Digital health apps, or DiGA for short, can help in the treatment of diseases and support patients in their self-determined health-promoting lifestyle. Doctors can prescribe these medical apps to their patients. For DiGA to be recognized as a health insurance benefit, it must demonstrate either a medical benefit or an improvement in the course of treatment, in addition to certain quality features.
Proven medical applications
Only medical applications that offer positive care effects or structural improvements for patients are approved. The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices reviews the applications for safety, functional suitability, quality, data security and data protection.
A list of all approved health applications can be found on the website diga.bfarm.de.
