Cancer prevention
Good chances of cure through early detection
If cancer is detected as early as possible, there is a good chance of recovery. That's why our policyholders can take advantage of measures that make early detection possible.
Cancer screening by gynecologist / urologist
Women from the age of 20 and men from the age of 45 are entitled to a free screening examination for early detection of cancer every year. As part of the early detection guidelines, the doctor examines the genital organs in women from the age of 20. From the age of 30, a breast examination is added.
For men 45 years and older, palpation is used to examine the external genital organs, prostate, and lymph nodes in the region.
Early detection of colorectal cancer
From the age of 50, men and women can take advantage of an analysis for invisible blood in the stool by means of a rapid test once a year.
Men over the age of 50 and women over the age of 55 can have a so-called colonoscopy. This involves examining the inside of the entire colon using an endoscope, a long, thin and flexible tube with a camera inside. In this way, early pre-stages of a possible colon cancer can be detected and immediately removed, the so-called polyps. A second colonoscopy can be requested at the earliest ten years after the first colonoscopy.
Alternative to colonoscopy
Those who do not want to use colonoscopy can instead have their stool tested for invisible blood every two years.
Early detection of breast cancer for women
Mammography is an X-ray examination of the breast and is considered the best method for early detection of breast cancer. For women between the ages of 50 and 69, it is therefore one of the preventive examinations paid for by BKK EWE.
