A new family member means great joy. The time during pregnancy passes much too quickly. You should simply be allowed to enjoy this time and observe how a new living being grows up. In between, however, there are also one or two financial hurdles.

Maternity benefits are paid for the first 6-week period of protection, the day of delivery, and the subsequent 8-week period (12 weeks in the case of multiple or premature births and in cases where the child is diagnosed with a disability before the end of 8 weeks after delivery).

Please have your gynecologist give you a "certificate of expected date of delivery". You will receive this certificate free of charge. You will also find the application for maternity benefits on the certificate.
