BKK EWE customer testimonials
"If things ever go wrong, my health insurance is there for me too!"
To apply for your ePA and access your ePA via the app, you need a user account. You can create this account directly in the app. To do this, open the "Log in" menu item in the app. Then select "Create user account". You will need an e-mail account and data from your health card. To increase security, three steps are necessary after creating the user account:
If you have already set up a user account, you can log in to the app with your insurance number and the password you have chosen.
To increase security, you can only access your ePA with devices that are connected to your user account. Alternatively, you can also use the ePA with your credentials created in the app via a so-called desktop client, i.e. software for Microsoft and Linux operating systems. You can download and install these desktop clients directly from BITMARCK GMBH, our software developer responsible for the ePA, at the link https://epaclient.de. The client for MacOS is still under development.
Open the "Log in" menu item in the app. Select "Forgot password" and follow the instructions.
When you log in to a new device, you must connect it to your user account to access your ePA.
There are two ways to do this:
Log in to the app and open the "Electronic patient record" menu item. If you do not yet have an ePA, you can set it up right here. After you have agreed to the consent documents, your ePA will be set up.
After that, you can access your ePA with the app or grant authorizations with the doctor. The first time you access your ePA, it will be activated. Note: If activation does not take place within 100 days, your ePA will be deleted again.
Log in to the app with your user account. Open the "Electronic Patient Record" menu item. Your ePA contains sensitive medical documents and is therefore a specially protected area. You have two options for opening your ePA:
Note: If you access the file system with a new device for the first time, you must authorize this access for security reasons. The file system sends you an e-mail to your stored e-mail address for this purpose.
You can configure how you want to open your ePA. Select the default setting for convenience access with al.vi or health card. For more information, see the section "How do I access my ePA?
At any time you can view the documents you accepted when setting up your ePA and download them.
Of course, you can also revoke your consents. Please note that this will delete your ePA and all the data and authorizations it contains. You will no longer be able to access your ePA afterwards.
You can cancel your ePA at any time subject to a notice period. Until the cancellation date, you can continue to access your ePA and all the data it contains, as well as cancel the cancellation in the app or with your health insurer.
When you open your ePA, the app shows you if any documents have been posted or deleted since you last logged in. You can configure the time period or turn notifications on or off in general.
When accessing your ePA, the record system ensures that only devices that are already registered in the record system can access it. In the device management you will find all devices from which you have already accessed your ePA.
You can block or allow access to individual devices here, or remove devices completely. If you access your ePA with new devices, you must authorize access via a confirmation link that is sent to your stored e-mail address.
If you have an NFC-enabled device and a health card, you can change the PIN of your health card via the app. You will need the CAN printed on the front of the health card and your existing PIN.
You need a device with NFC function for this. Open your ePA with your health card. If it is determined that your PIN is locked, you can unlock it using your PUK. To do this, you need the CAN printed on the front of the health card and your PUK.
In the document list you can see all documents that are currently stored in your ePA. You can search and filter the documents by title, authors, and other criteria. You can get more details about documents, and view or download them to your device. Since you control what data is in your ePA, you can also delete documents at any time. Please note that this may result in gaps in your medical history.
In the document list, you can also add new documents to your ePA. To do this, select a document that exists on your device. The app suggests metadata when you set the document. You can modify this data and adjust it so that you can easily find the document later. The app encrypts the document before uploading it to your ePA, ensuring that only you or authorized people can access it.
You can control permissions in your ePA for who can access data in your ePA. Permissions are time-limited and apply to categories of documents. Patient documents are documents that you yourself have uploaded to your ePA. Physician documents are documents that physicians, medical professionals and other authorized persons have uploaded to your ePA.
The authorization list shows all authorized persons who currently have access to documents in your ePA. The list shows which category of documents is accessible in each case. You also have the option to save your permissions in list form as a PDF on your device.
You can grant, change, or revoke authorizations at any time. To grant new permissions, search for your doctor or healthcare facility directly in the application. Then set the duration of the permission, as well as which category of documents the permission holder should have access to.
If you delete authorizations, please note that documents already downloaded by the authorized person remain with the authorized person. However, they will no longer have access to your ePA. Expired authorizations are automatically deleted by the file system.
Your ePA has a detailed log that you can call up at any time and also export. This log shows all accesses to your ePA - by yourself, but also by authorized persons.
This allows you to track when documents are posted, retrieved, or searched from your ePA, or when you granted or revoked permissions. You can search and filter the log specifically. The log entries are deleted from the file system after three years.
You have the possibility to view individual log entries in the detailed view. Here you can see the type, time and result (successful or failed) of the access, name of the user, identifier of the object, etc.
(Export log, display exported log data locally, print log).
You can export your log list at any time and display it on your device. You also have the option to print your log list.
